Festival Barricades

November 2023 -   Every year National Cherry Festival volunteers set out, move around daily and collect traffic barricades. It's not surprising that they begin to show their age.  In July the Men's Shed accepted the task of refurbishing the barricades. The Festival staff delivered over a hundred barricades, many in pretty poor shape.  The Shedders began by sorting the various pieces by size and condition.  There are three pieces to each barricade:  the horizontal bar and the two A-frame pieces that support each end.  Next came the repair of all broken parts, sanding off old loose paint, and repainting everything.    Nearly all of the horizontal pieces, and many of the a-frame stands were finished for the  Festival crew's first pick up on the 20th of October.    Their crew picked up the remaining pieces on the 14th.  THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK SHEDDERS!

Our Spray Painting Crew - Some think they got more paint on themselves than the work pieces!

Onominese Cemetery Crosses

June 13, 2023  - Despite the less than ideal weather, seven Shedders braved the unusually cold June day to install the white crosses our chapter has been restoring over the winter.  Native American historian Scott Schwander was on-hand to provide guidance.  Lunch at the Pour House in Lake Leelanau was enjoyed by all.
